1. Francis Huckin died 1714.

Francis Huckin of Kingham, who died in 1714, is the earliest known ancestor of the present Huckin family. Although it is not beyond possibility that he was an elder son of William Huckin, he must have been born in the 1650s, certainly no later than 1659. Alternatively, it is more probable in view of his apparent connection with John Huckin (who died in 1687/8) and Thomas Huckin (who married in 1700), that he belonged to that landowning side of the family. His wife's name was Mary, but no marriage has yet been traced, nor were Thomas Huckin, Francis Huckin, Mary Huckin or their son William Huckin buried in Kingham. His wife's name was first recorded in the baptismal register in 1682 - previously, only the father's name was given - and her name is confirmed in Francis Huckin' s will of 1712.

Francis Huckin's will (133/4/40) was dated 8th May 1712, and proved on 24th September 1714, which provides us with a date for his death probably in 1714. In his will he provided his widow, Mary, with an annuity of £5; his third son, Elisha, was bequeathed £20 and a bed; John and Francis were appointed joint executors, and shared all his cattle and chattles. His son, William, is not named and does not recur in our records, so he had presumably died young. The witnesses were Richard Hacker, John Allen and Thomas Hucking. But the most favoured beneficiary was his daughter, Eleanor, to whom he bequeathed £60.

Francis married Mary. Mary was buried 3 Nov 1742.

They had the following children:

+ 2 M i John Huckin
3 M ii Francis Huckin was christened 9 Nov 1679. He was buried 17 Apr 1743.
+ 4 F iii Eleanor Huckin
+ 5 M iv Elisha Huckin
  6 M v William Huckin was christened 24 Nov 1691. He died Bef 1712.
